Sleep Health Examination/Sleep Study
Sleep Health Examination/Sleep Study

A Sleep Lab or Sleep Test is an important health examination that analyzes the functioning of various systems in the body during sleep. This includes respiratory function, blood oxygen levels, brain wave activity, heart rate, and muscle movement. It also studies certain behaviors that occur during sleep. Currently, it is considered the gold standard for diagnosing sleep-related disorders, especially conditions such as obstructive sleep apnea.

Individuals who should undergo this examination include those who have problems with loud snoring, abnormal sleepiness during the day despite getting sufficient sleep, difficulty breathing, suspected episodes of breathing cessation during sleep, or those with other abnormal sleep behaviors such as limb movement, teeth grinding, sleepwalking, or recurring nightmares. Before undergoing the examination, it is advisable to consult directly with a sleep disorder specialist or a specialist in related fields such as otolaryngology, neurology, or respiratory medicine.
