Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease is transmitted through contact with saliva, nasal discharge, or contact with fluid-filled blisters and feces of infected individuals, including those who are asymptomatic. The infection can spread through direct contact, such as diaper changing, or by touching contaminated surfaces in the environment, such as toys, plates, spoons, or shared drinking glasses.

Severe cases of Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease can be life-threatening, and survivors may experience neurological complications. Some cases may have complications related to the nervous system, such as seizures, lethargy, vomiting, encephalitis, sudden muscle weakness, myocarditis, or pulmonary edema. Most patients experience mild symptoms, such as fever and rash, which typically resolve within 2-3 days, with the rash improving within 7-10 days. Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease can occur throughout the year but has a higher incidence from June to September or during the rainy season.

Prevention and Treatment:
1. Isolate infected individuals and prevent contact with them.
2. Maintain personal hygiene and cleanliness of the environment, with a focus on hand hygiene and cleaning of toys and surroundings.
3. Prevention through vaccination can reduce the severity of symptoms and potential fatalities.
